How to Help Digestive Problems Naturally: Liver and Gallbladder Flush
According to Andreas Moritz of the Ener-Chi Wellness Centre, liver bile duct congestion causes gallstone attacks and gallbladder diseases in about 20 million Americans annually. It can also lead to more severe conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and even cancer. Many adults have hundreds of gallstones congesting the bile ducts of their liver, without even realizing it. This causes many illnesses, including irritable bowel syndrome.
I recently did a cleanse/flush program that I would like to share with you. This may be the answer of how to help digestive problems naturally.
Liver and Gallbladder Flush
The cleanse is mostly based on the book “The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush” by Andreas Moritz. The author claims that the average modern human has many gallstones in their liver, called intrahepatic gallstones, which are in the ducts of the liver – not in the gallbladder as would be expected. Apparently these stones are mostly made out of cholesterol but sometimes they are calcified. These stones can wreak all sorts of havoc on the proper functioning of your liver.
Since the liver is the organ that bears the brunt of modern day living by filtering out toxins and pollutants, I thought it would be great to clean it out. The author uses the analogy of routine maintenance on your car. While I’m not a big fan of comparing the human body to a machine, in this instance I think it works quite well. We don’t drive our cars and expect them to last a long time, and in good working order, without changing the filters on a regular basis.
How the Flush Works
The cleanse takes six to seven days to do properly. You start with lightening up your diet and cutting out food and liquids that are a burden on digestion. You eliminate coffee and all caffeine, chocolate, gluten, sugar, dairy, meat, and eggs. You also start to drink lots of apple juice or apple cider vinegar diluted with water. I used a mixture of watered down apple juice and malic acid. These fluids are designed to help soften the stones in your liver and prepare them to be released.
As the week progresses, you gradually lighten your diet even more until you only drink juices and smoothies towards the end. On the last day before the purge, you only drink the apple juice/apple cider vinegar drink.
At the end of the sixth day, you drink several doses of Epsom salts, followed by a mixture of olive oil and grapefruit juice, on an empty stomach. The Epsom salts cause all the smooth muscle tissue of your entire digestive tract (intestines and liver bile ducts) to relax. This has a strong purgative effect. The olive oil and grapefruit mixture cause the liver and gallbladder to strongly release a large quantity of bile, which flushes out these cholesterol stones that have been softening up all week with the apple juice mixture.
If you really want to clean things out, you can do one or more colon hydrotherapy treatments, both before and after the flush. To further cleanse and expel toxins from the liver, you can also follow up the flush with a coffee enema.
How I Experienced the Flush
This was actually the second time I’ve done the liver and gallbladder flush, but it has been over ten years since the first time, so I can hardly remember the first time. The week preparing was relatively easy and straightforward. It felt great to lighten up my food intake and drink my own fresh-pressed apple juice every day!
The flush day with the Epsom salts wasn’t exactly pleasurable. It felt a little like a 12-hour stomach bug with acute diarrhea. I know, not exactly something one would voluntarily seek out… But after it was all over, I felt great! I felt strong, energized, and light in my body and clear in my head.
Controversy around the Liver and Gallbladder Flush
You should know that this is a rather controversial process. Some people claim that the little green stones that are flushed out are just coagulated olive oil and not cholesterol stones at all. The author of the book addresses this very well in the FAQ section at the end of the book. I can’t say for sure one way or the other, but I know I felt great afterward.
Other Ways on How to Help Digestive Problems Naturally
If you’re interested in trying it, I’d be happy to share more about my experience and the details of the process. I highly recommend getting the book and reading it yourself. It gives you complete details of the process and explains the physiology of what happens, which helped get me excited and motivated to do it.
